Flavour inspiration can come from anywhere. For the new addition to the quenchers series, Pinaculars, we looked at some of the flavors of our past. 

Our inspiration for Pinaculars was pina colada, we wanted to create a flavour that takes you on a trip to the tropics. Once the banana, coconut and pineapples were perfectly blended together we realized that there was room for something else. We wanted to add our own twist to a classic flavour enjoyed by many, so we put a hint of tangerine to add some sweet tanginess to tie the flavour together. Pinaculars contains juicy pineapple, layers of rich bananas, and undertones of sweet coconut. 

Pinaculars is quite the international flavour. Pineapples, Bananas, and Coconuts are found in tropical and hot countries, such as Costa Rica, Australia, India, China and Africa. The origins of coconuts are the subject of controversy with some authorities claiming it is native to

southeast Asia, while others claim its origin is in northwestern South America. Fossil records from New Zealand indicate that small, coconut-like plants grew there as far back 15 million years ago.

The flavour making process seems simple but it actually takes months, sometimes years to come up with the final version. We have to test tons of different flavours in different amounts to get it just right. The challenge with Pinaculars was to soften the intensity of the tangerine so it wasn’t overpowering. The result is the bite of juicy pineapples and banana with a hint of coconut and a touch of tangy tangerines.
