Everything You Need to Know About E-liquid Ingredients
Ascorbic acid, theobromine, dihydrogen oxide... These ingredients sound scary hey? What about if we break them down? Ascorbic acid, otherwise known as vitamin C, is a common ingredient in fruit-flavored vape juices. Theobromine is a naturally occurring element of the cacao plant and is blessedly responsible for chocolate’s delicious flavor. Dihydrogen oxide, well, that’s just water.
When you break down the scary-sounding ingredients in vape juice, they don’t sound so scary anymore do they? There are four basic ingredients in all e-juices, and they are quite friendly if you take the time to get to know them!
In a nutshell, E-liquid is made up of:
1. Vegetable Glycerin (VG)
The main base of vape juice is vegetable glycerin or VG. At VanGo we proudly use certified organic VG in all our juices. VG doesn’t carry flavor very well, but it does excel in creating lots of vapor which is why juices with more VG are good for powerful sub ohm mods — and for all you cloud chasers out there! VG is a clear and odorless liquid that originates from plant oils and is sometimes used as a sweetener. It can be found in many daily products like lotions, cosmetics and food.
2. Propylene Glycol (PG)
Propylene Glycol or PG is a main ingredient in albuterol, or asthma inhalers, so believe us when we say it is perfectly safe to inhale when vaporized! PG carries flavor very well but produces less vapor than VG. This makes juices high in PG best for basic e-cig devices. PG is an organic, synthetic compound made from sugar alcohol. It is used in a ton of everyday products like food, toothpaste and shampoo to name a few.
3. Flavoring
Flavorings get a little more complicated but are also the fun part. These are suspended in PG and can be natural or artificial. The number of flavors that can be made is limited only by the imagination of your juice maker. At VanGo, we take pride in using only food-grade, high-end flavorings, and every week at the lab is like that Pringles commercial... Spicy BBQ Pizza anyone? Yes please!
4. Nicotine Concentrate
There can be anywhere from 0mg to 50mg of pharmaceutical-grade nicotine in e-juices. 50mg being like an unfiltered Lucky Strike cigarette and 0mg being for those who just enjoy the experience of vaping.
So there you have it, vape juice ingredients explained. Nothing mysterious about it! Except our top-secret new flavor projects of course. What flavor can you expect from VanGo next? We’ll give you a hint, it rhymes with oot beer...
