What to expect in the new year for vaping?
2020 will be a year like no other in regards to the vaping industry as a whole across the world. This year we have already seen the US government crack down and ban sales of mint and fruit flavor pod devices, and that is just the beginning. By May this year, all US manufacturers of vaping products will have to have made their submission to the FDA under under a PMTA sumbission or else be at risk for breaking the law.
In Canada, provinces are expected to create more laws and the begining of it all is BC. We have already seen what is to come including the now 25% tax, but this is just the begining. Other provinces like Alberta will release their regulations soon, and it is expected to be close to BC's.
However on the bright side, more longer term studies are coming to light that show that vaping is effective in helping people stop smoking cigarettes. In an article from the BBC on 2019's biggest breakthrough, vaping was listed as something that is helping people make the switch. The article quoted a study in the New England Journal of Medicine that concluded that "E-cigarettes were more effective for smoking cessation than nicotine-replacement therapy" as "the 1-year abstinence rate was 18.0% in the e-cigarette group, as compared with 9.9% in the nicotine-replacement group."
In all, while the regulations will get more stringent to come, we predict that the image of vaping will get better over time because of the proofs that are coming out. We expect 2020 to have a lot of vaping updates to come, so make sure to keep up with whats going on by subscribing to our newsletter at the bottom of this page!
